This weekend, it's Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania which led the show at the box office. The film saw a good start for itself on Friday with Rs. 8.25 crores* coming in and though the jumps over Saturday and Sunday were not huge, the fact that footfalls stayed consistent right through ensured that the overall weekend total stayed good enough. The film saw Rs. 27 crores* come in and though a Rs. 30 crores number would have had a better ring to it, the fact that the Marvel film with a lesser popular central character has reached this far is good as well.
The film will continue to be the highest collecting film in weekdays to follow as well, despite the fact, the word of mouth is average and there won't really be much of a long run for it. Still, since it's playing at premium properties with higher priced tickets, it would have an advantage over the rest even with limited footfalls. On the other hand, Shehzada stayed on the same lines as Friday on Saturday and Sunday as well, due to which even though the numbers did increase, the huge momentum it was looking for didn't quite come. The film stands at Rs. 20.20 crores.
Meanwhile, one film which is seeing good occupancy till date is Pathaan. Now the film is running at lesser count of screens and shows when compared to last week due to competition from the newer releases. That said, the showcasing was better on Saturday and Sunday since the screens and shows were increased when compared to Friday. As a result, over 10 crores came this weekend as well which has pushed the total to Rs. 516 crores*. The collections have now gone past the Hindi version of Baahubali: The Conclusion [Rs. 511 crores]. However, this includes around Rs. 18 crores worth of south versions as well and hence it's just a matter of time before the Hindi version too goes past Rs. 511 crores and emerges as the biggest ever in this language.
*Estimates. Final numbers awaited
