Box Office: Dangal becomes 2nd highest opening week grosser of 2016 :Bollywood Box Office

The biopic Dangal based on the life of Mahavir Singh Phogat starring Aamir Khan in the title role released a week back to a flying start at the box office. Directed by Nitesh Tiwari Dangal, that also marks the debut of Sanya Malhotra and Fatima Sana Sheikh has continued to hold its own at the box office through the week.

In this box office report we take a look at the Opening Week collections of Dangal while comparing the same to previously released films of 2016. Collecting Rs. 197.54 cr in its first week Dangal claims the second spot among the highest opening week grossers of 2016. Though Dangal does not manage to surpass the collections of Salman Khan’s Sultan that collected Rs. 229.16 cr, it does out beat other films like M. S. Dhoni - The Untold Story that collected Rs. 94.13 cr, Rustom that collected Rs. 90.9 cr, Ae Dil Hai Mushkil that collected Rs. 80.19 cr, Housefull 3 that collected Rs. 80.1 cr, Airlift that collected Rs. 78.5 cr and Fan that collected Rs. 71.5 cr.
