Last week we saw the clash of two big ticket Bollywood releases Rustom and Mohenjo Daro as both films hit screens simultaneously. However, Rustom starring Akshay Kumar took the lead on day one itself over Mohenjo Daro that stars Hrithik Roshan.
Now a week after their release, Rustom still holds strong collecting Rs. 90.90 cr at the box office to become the second highest opening week grosser of 2016. While Rustom does manage to overtake other releases of 2016 like Housefull 3 that collected Rs. 80.1 cr, Airlift that collected Rs. 78.5 cr, and Fan that collected Rs. 71.5 cr, it fails to surpass the Salman Khan starrer Sultan that collected Rs. 229.16 cr.
On the other hand, Mohenjo Daro that collected Rs. 51.18 cr in its opening week comes in eight overtaking films like Udta Punjab that collected Rs. 48.5 cr, Kapoor & Sons that collected Rs. 46.93 cr, Ki & Ka that collected Rs. 37.57 cr and Neerja that collected Rs. 35.32 cr.
