The Rajkumar Hirani directorial Sanju released a little over three weeks ago. Starring Ranbir Kapoor in the title role, the film which is a biopic of actor Sanjay Dutt has been nearly unstoppable at the box office. After hitting 4000 screens in the domestic market, the business of Sanju continued to dominate the box office well after its release. In fact, the film not only withstood the monsoons that have been lashing various parts of the country but also managed to weather the competition from newer releases to emerge as a clear leader.
Now after a stellar three weeks run at the domestic box office, we take a look at the business of Sanju in its third week while comparing the same to the previous releases of 2018. Collecting Rs. 31.62 cr in week 3, Sanju has manage to beat the collections of the Alia Bhatt starrer Raazi that had collected Rs. 18.21 cr to become the second highest third week grosser of 2018. However, the business of Sanju is unable to surpass the collections of the Sanjay Leela Bhansali directorial Padmaavat that had collected Rs. 31.75 cr, but it comes very close to doing so.
However, when compared to other releases this year Sanju has managed to perform better than a few others as well like, Sonu Ke titu Ki Sweety that collected Rs. 17.93 cr, Baaghi 2 that collected Rs. 11 cr and Raid that had collected Rs. 9.60 cr.
