The Aamir Khan starrer Secret Superstar opened to a bang last week at the Chinese box office. In fact, the Advait Chandan film which features Aamir in an extended cameo has been doing rather well, surpassing the opening weekend collections of Aamir’s previous release Dangal in this market.
Now on its fifth day running in China, Secret Superstar has managed to draw in a further USD 4.84 million [Rs. 30.81 cr]. Interestingly, while the fourth day collections of Secret Superstar saw a slight dip, with the collections of Dangal being positioned higher, on the fifth day we see the business of Secret Superstar rebound again. Going by the numbers, while Dangal had collected USD 3.52 million [Rs. 22.74 cr] on Day 5, Secret Superstar has performed a bit better.
While currently the total collections of Secret Superstar at the Chinese box office stands at USD 37.17 million [Rs. 236.70 cr], Dangal had collected just USD 21.81 million [Rs. 138.89 cr] in the same time frame. If that wasn’t enough, the business of Dangal had managed to near the Rs. 230 cr mark on its 9th day running whereas; Secret Superstar has managed this feat within just five days of its release.
Given the current box office trend of Secret Superstar’s business at the Chinese box office, the film is expected to breach the Rs. 250 cr mark in the coming few days.
