After much talk and immense promotions we finally saw the release of the Aamir Khan starrer Thugs of Hindostan. Directed by Vijay Krishna Acharya or Viktor, the film which features another big name viz. Amitabh Bachchan in its cast, opened on a high note.
In this box office analysis we take a look at the opening day collections of Thugs of Hindostan while comparing the same to Aamir Khan’s previous releases. Not surprisingly, the Yash Raj Films production venture Thugs of Hindostan that drew in a massive Rs. 52.25 cr has become Aamir Khan’s highest opening day grosser. In fact, the business of the film has managed to surpass the collections of Aamir Khan’s previous releases like Dhoom 3 that collected Rs. 36.22 cr, Dangal that collected Rs. 29.78 cr, PK that collected Rs. 26.63 cr, Talaash that collected Rs. 13.50 cr, 3 Idiots that collected Rs. 12.78 cr and Dhobi Ghaat that had collected Rs. 3.05 cr. While this massive opening day collections are being attributed to the festive release of the film this Diwali and the fact that the ticket prices have been hiked. It has to be mentioned that Thugs of Hindostan has been one of the most anticipated releases of the year.
Currently, with little to no competition from other or previous releases all that remains to be seen is whether the film manages to becomes one of the highest grossers of the year.
