The Shree Narayan Singh directed film Toilet – Ek Prem Katha starring Akshay Kumar and Bhumi Pednekar has been doing brisk business since its release last week on Friday. The film which hit screens to good responses from critics and audience alike boasts of good entertainment value along with a relevant social message.
After becoming one among the top five highest opening weekend grossers Toilet – Ek Prem Katha seems to be near unstoppable. In fact the business of the film, witnessed a jump in collections on Tuesday with Rs. 20 cr coming in. Thanks to this boost in collections the total box office earning of the film are now pegged at Rs. 83.45 cr. If that wasn’t enough, Toilet – Ek Prem Katha has now become the seventh highest grosser of 2017.
While the collections of the film within five days of its release have already surpassed the lifetime collections of previous releases like Hindi Medium that collected Rs. 69.59 cr, the Shah Rukh Khan starrer Jab Harry Met Sejal that collected Rs. 62.6 cr and Half Girlfriend that collected Rs. 60.3 cr, it yet has to out beat other releases like Baahubali 2 - The Conclusion that collected Rs. 510.98 cr, Raees that collected Rs. 137.51 cr, Tubelight that collected Rs. 119.26 cr, Jolly LLB 2 that collected Rs. 117 cr, Badrinath Ki Dulhania that collected Rs. 116.68 cr and Kaabil that collected Rs. 103.84 cr.
However, considering that Toilet – Ek Prem Katha still continues to enjoy the audience’s favour the film is expected to post even higher collection figures by the end of its first week in cinemas. Moreover, considering the fact that Thursday August 17 might see an increase in footfalls at theatres with Parsi New Year being celebrated, the collections of the film are expected to see growth.
