A couple of years ago Bollywood’s perfectionist Khan, Aamir Khan had developed a formula to analyse the true success of any film. As per Aamir, “To measure a film’s success, you need to see the weekend figures and compare it with the total collection. Like 3 Idiots did Rs. 40 crores on the weekend and the total business was Rs. 202 crores, so the weekend multiplied by 5, is the behaviour of the film which is very good. That shows people have gone again and again to see the film. Jo film teen din mein Rs. 100 crore karein aur total mein Rs. 200 crore karein, then that film is not good.” Well, as per Aamir’s formula we decided to see whether the recent release Chhichhore that featured Sushant Singh Rajput in the lead was really a success in its true sense.
Collecting Rs. 144.60 cr till date Chhichhore has managed to surpass expectations. In fact, the film that still continues to run is inching its way towards the Rs. 150 cr mark. Now, as per Aamir Khan’s formula, Chhichhore that has collected Rs. 144.60 cr managed to earn Rs. 35.98 cr on its opening weekend, resulting in a multiple of 4.02.
Interestingly, according to Aamir Khan’s theory, Chhichhore has emerged as one of 2019’s most successful films, coming in just behind the leader Uri – The Surgical Strike that had a multiple of 6.87. If that wasn’t enough, as per Khan’s theory, Chhichhore has emerged as a bigger success than other releases like Kabir Singh that had a multiple of 3.93, Badla that had a multiple of 3.79, Article 15 that had a multiple of 3.27, Luka Chuppi that had a multiple of 2.95, Dream Girl that had a multiple of 2.89, Super 30 that had a multiple of 2.89, and De De Pyaar De that had a multiple of 2.69.
