The 28th film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness released a week ago. Being one of the most talked about and keenly anticipated releases the film was expected to take off on a flying note. Living up to expectations, Doctor Strange 2 whose advance bookings stated nearly a month before release saw a massive Rs. 28.35 cr coming in on day 1.
However, with lacklustre reviews and moderate audience feedback the business of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness fast began to see a drop. Managing to draw in Rs. 79.5 cr over its opening weekend the business of the film witnessed a massive drop in collections on its first Monday. Following this, the collections of Doctor Strange 2 have remained low, hovering around the Rs. 4-5 cr mark each day.
Now at the close of its first week running, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness has managed to cross the Rs. 100 cr mark. Collecting Rs. 101.49 cr in its first week the film has certainly not performed as predicted. In fact, contrary to expectations Doctor Strange 2 seems to be facing an uphill task at the box office.
