Last week on Friday we saw the release of the Sunny Deol – Ameesha Patel starrer Gadar 2. Directed by Anil Sharma, the film which takes the story from the 2001 film Gadar: Ek Prem Katha forward, was well received by the audience. In fact, with rave reviews and general curiosity for the film Gadar 2 opened on a thunderous note. Following this, with audiences thronging theatres, and certain locations introducing late night and early morning shows to accommodate audience demand, the business of the film has been seeing steady growth each day.
Now on its fifth day running Gadar 2, which has been seeing consistently around Rs. 40 crores coming in each day, has managed to cross the Rs. 200 crores mark. Collecting Rs. 228.98 crores in just 5 days of its release, Gadar 2 has now become the third film of 2023 to achieve this feat. In fact, the film ranks as the second fastest Rs. 200 crores grosser of 2023 coming just behind the Shah Rukh Khan starrer Pathaan which managed to cross the Rs. 200 crores mark in 4 days, while on the other hand, far surpassing The Kerala Story which took 18 days to cross the Rs. 200 crores mark.
Overall, with 2022, and now 2023 being rather eventful years that have proved to be rather tumultuous to the industry, the success of Gadar 2 is a welcome sight. Going further, the film, which still enjoys the audiences’ favour, is expected to see further growth over the next few days. Based on advance predictions, trade estimates claim that Gadar 2 could near the Rs. 250 or even the Rs. 300 crores mark by the end of its first week.
