Gadar 2 Box Office: All-Time Top Movies on August 15 (Independence Day): Sunny Deol-Ameesha Patel starrer claims the top spot

The anticipation for sequels is often accompanied by high expectations, and the Sunny Deol-Ameesha Patel starrer Gadar 2 was no exception. Directed by Anil Sharma, the film, which takes the story of the 2001 release Gadar: Ek Prem Katha forward, arrived amid immense expectations, hopes and curiosity. Living up to the same, the film, which received positive reviews across the board, was also well received by the audience. After taking a stellar start, the business of Gadar 2 witnessed immense growth over its first Saturday and Sunday, managing to cross the Rs. 100 crores mark by the close of its opening weekend. Subsequently on its first Monday running, the business of the film saw a less than 5% drop in collections.

Now on its fifth day running, Gadar 2, which enjoyed the Independence Day holiday, has seen its business flourish. In fact, the film saw a further Rs. 55.40 crores coming in on day 5, taking its total collections past the Rs. 200 crores mark. Thanks to this, Gadar 2 has now emerged as the third Rs. 200 crores grosser of 2023. If that was not enough, looking at previous releases that have hit screens around Independence Day, while comparing their collections to Gadar 2, the Anil Sharma directorial has come out on top. Collecting Rs. 228.98 crores, the film has now emerged as the all-time highest Independence Day grosser, surpassing previous releases like Ek Tha Tiger which collected Rs. 32.93 crores, Singham Returns which collected Rs. 32.09 crores, Mission Mangal which collected Rs. 29.16 crores, and Gold which had collected Rs. 25.25 crores.

This spectacular success of Gadar 2 is being attributed to the fact that apart from the audience appreciation, the strong emotional connect the film’s predecessor developed with the masses, as well as the heavily patriotic theme have gone a long way in boosting the success of the film. Going by the current scenario, Gadar 2, which has seen a massive rate of footfalls in theatres, with more shows being added to accommodate the audience frenzy will continue to rake in the moolah.

As it stands, Gadar 2, which has already been classified as a success story, is more than likely to continue its box office march. Based on early trade predictions, the business of the film could easily cross the Rs. 250 crores mark by the end of its first week.
