Varun Dhawan and Kiara Advani's Jug Jugg Jeeyo has taken a fair start at the box office with the occupancy growing from strength to strength as the day passed by. According to early estimates, the movie has collected in the range of Rs. 8.50 to 9.50 crores. The family entertainer is faring the best in metros, and the talk also seems to be more or all positive in the target audience.
The near double digit opening has put the film in a good position to grow over the weekend and it should be targeting a growth of at-least 30 percent on Saturday, followed by another 20 percent on Sunday. As expected, Delhi is the best faring market for Jug Jugg Jeeyo followed by Mumbai, Pune and Punjab. The movie is driven by cities as there is little to speak about the performance in mass belts.
The subject of Jug Jugg Jeeyo is very urban and hence, it's futile to expect the film to get an audience in the mass belts, or rather even tier 2 cities. There is enough in the film for a metro centric audience and with appreciation, this set of audience can take the film to a respectable number. The opening can be termed good, if we look at how some of the films featuring names like Ajay Devgn, Akshay Kumar, Tiger Shroff, Ayushmann Khurrana have opened in the last few months, as the budget of Jug Jugg Jeeyo is lower than most of those films.
It's going to be a daily challenge and the film will have to surpass all the hurdles by the day. It's a good start to build a platform and all eyes now on the Saturday growth.
