Welcome the newest Rs. 100 Crore club entrants at the Indian box office. Aamir Khan was the first to do that with his Ghajini back in 2008 and ever since then it had been the barometer of success for all commercial stars, be it the experienced or the newcomers in the business. Akshay Kumar and Salman Khan have the maximum count to their name, followed by Ajay Devgn. Now add Anupam Kher and Mithun Chakraborty to the list, who have spearheaded the effort in The Kashmir Files and emerged as the senior most actors to have a century of their own.
Yes, they have featured in a few biggies in the past as well but primarily as supporting actors. However, The Kashmir Files is an ensemble affair and the ones who have carried the weight of the film are these two actors with relative newcomer Darshan Kumaar also contributing to the drama. From Saraansh and Disco Dancer to now The Kashmir Files, it has been a four decade plus journey for the two actors and it is incredible that they have a blockbuster like this to their name now.
There is so much more to come as ‘picture abhi baaki hai’. The film is still seeing a continued rise in collections, as evidenced in Rs. 19.15 crores that it collected on Friday. There is no stopping the film as it now stands at Rs. 116.45 crores and is still not seeing any sign of decline.
Director Vivek Agnihotri, who started his career with an ensemble commercial film Chocolate (Anil Kapoor, Suniel Shetty, Irrfan Khan, Arshad Warsi, Emraan Hashmi, Tanushree Dutta) has created history with this yet another ensemble affair, albeit in an altogether different league, and made his debut in the Rs. 100 Crore club.
Note: All collections as per production and distribution sources.
