Just a week ago we had reported that the Yash starrer KGF – Chapter 2 had set a new benchmark when it crossed the Rs. 350 cr mark at the box office. The much talked about film, which saw audience thronging cinema halls has been on a roll since its release three weeks ago. After blitzing past the Rs. 100 cr, Rs. 200 cr, and Rs. 300 cr club, the film has now entered the Rs. 400 cr club. In this special report we look at some of the benchmarks the film has made staring with the latest:
Crosses Rs. 400 cr: After a stellar run at the box office KGF – Chapter 2 has seen a further Rs. 49.14 cr being added to its overall collections in its third week. With this, the total business of the film is now pegged at Rs. 401.80 cr and has now entered the highly exclusive Rs. 400 cr club within just 23 days of its release. Interestingly, KGF 2 has now become the second film to achieve this feat after the SS Rajamouli directorial Baahubali 2 – The Conclusion crossed the Rs. 400 cr mark in 18 days.
Crosses Rs. 350 cr: After a stellar run at the box office, KGF 2 which continues to dominate made it past the Rs. 350 cr. mark on Day 16. Despite new releases in the form of Runway 34 and Heropanti 2 the Yash starrer remains the audiences’ first choice in theatres.
Crosses Rs. 325 cr: On its 12th day running KGF 2, which managed to overcome competition from new releases, drew in a further Rs. 8.28 cr. taking its total collections past the Rs. 325 cr. mark. Collecting Rs. Rs. 329.4 cr. in 12 days, the film has set yet another record.
Crosses Rs. 300 cr: Over a week after its release, KGF – Chapter 2 continued its run at the box office. With daily collection figures, hovering near the Rs. 20 cr. mark each day, the film fast-forwarded into the Rs. 300 cr. club in 11 days. Collecting Rs. 321.12 cr. in 11 days, KGF 2 has now joined the SS Rajamouli directorial Baahubali 2 – The Conclusion as being the all-time fastest Rs. 300 cr. grosser.
Crosses Rs. 250 cr: After blitzing into the Rs. 100 cr. and Rs. 200 cr. club, KGF 2 continued its domination at the box office, raking in over Rs. 250 cr. in seven days. With a collection of Rs. 255.05 cr. the Yash starrer has set a new record of being the fastest grosser.
Crosses Rs. 200 cr: After enjoying an extended four-day opening weekend, which saw collections soar, the first Monday business of KGF 2 did not witness a drastic drop. Collecting Rs. 25.57 cr. on Day 5, the total collections of the film managed to go past the Rs. 200 cr. mark. Once again, setting a new record, KGF – Chapter 2 collected Rs. 219.56 cr. in 5 days, surpassed previous releases to become the all-time fastest Rs. 200 cr. grosser.
Crosses Rs. 150 cr: Given the insane craze for the film, it came as no surprise when KGF – Chapter 2 made it past the Rs. 150 cr. mark in just four days. Collecting over Rs. 40 cr. on four consecutive days, with two of these days recording collections in excess of Rs. 50 cr., KGF 2 blitzed past the Rs. 150 cr. mark in record time. In fact, the film also surpassed Baahubali 2 as being the only film to have four consecutive Rs. 40+ grossing days.
Crosses Rs. 100 cr: Collecting a further Rs. 46.79 cr. on its second day the business of KGF – Chapter 2 crossed the Rs. 100 cr. mark within just 2 days of its release. Collecting Rs. 100.74 cr. the film surpassed previous releases like Baahubali 2, Dangal, Sanju, Tiger Zinda Hai, and War amongst others to become the fastest Rs. 100 cr. grosser.
Crosses Rs. 50 cr: Being one of the most anticipated, promoted, and hyped releases of recent times KGF – Chapter 2 was expected to open with a bang. However, surpassing expectations and predictions, the Yash starrer opened on a thunderous note crossing the Rs. 50 cr. mark on its first day. In fact, the film managed to rake in a staggering Rs. 53.95 cr. on Day 1 making it the all-time highest opening day grosser, as well as the all-time highest single day grosser.
Besides this, KGF – Chapter 2 has also established new benchmarks for Yash and the film’s director Prashanth Neel by becoming their first release to gain entry into not just the Rs. 100 cr, and Rs. 200 cr club but the Rs. 300 cr, and Rs. 400 cr club as well. If that wasn’t all, given the fact that KGF 2 still continues to run despite new releases hitting screens it is expected that the film will see further progress in terms of collections over the coming days.
