There is no stopping The Lion King. Despite not really finding favorable reviews in the West, it is doing fantastic business in India. The film is keeping the pace on in the second weekend as well, what with an astonishing Rs. 11.56 crores more coming on Saturday. This is more than double the jump in numbers after Friday which had brought in Rs. 5.35 crores.
The film has found patronage amongst the family audiences and that is resulting in consistently good footfalls ever since the release. What is further good about the film is that it is doing well all over, be it multiplexes, single screens, big cities or small towns.
The Hollywood animation film has now collected Rs. 98.48 crores already and would now be entering the 100 Crore Club today. That would be a huge feat indeed since only a handful of Hollywood films have made it to this elite club so far. The film is a clear super hit and if the trend as evidenced so far since the release continues for next 10 days as well then we may as well have a blockbuster in hand.
