After much talk we finally arrive on the D-day with AE DIL HAI MUSHKIL (ADHM) and SHIVAAY hitting screens. Despite the uncertainty surrounding the release of Karan Johar’s Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, the filmmaker reached a settlement with the objecting parties, ensuring a smooth release of the film. But the question of the hour that everyone is asking is which of the two films will emerge as the leader.
Reports suggest that Karan Johar’s Ae Dil Hai Mushkil that has recorded approximately 35% occupancy rate during morning shows has taken the lead over Ajay Devgn’s SHIVAAY which recorded approximately 20% occupancy rate during the same time period. In metro cities, Ae Dil Hai Mushkil that caters to the multiplex audience has taken a good lead over SHIVAAY. In fact, the anti-Pakistani sentiment that was expected to affect the film’s box office prospects has not affected the movie in any manner though there have been minor incidents of vandalism at certain locations. On the other hand, in tier II cities and smaller towns, SHIVAAY that caters to the masses has a slight lead over Ae Dil Hai Mushkil.
Though both films have opened on a good note, considering the pre Diwali festivities that have kicked in across the nation, the footfalls on Day 1 are not expected to be extraordinary. However this percentage will increase as the day progresses peaking during evening and night shows.
