25 Years Of Kuch Kuch Hota Hai: Karan Johar calls Shah Rukh Khan ’emperor of entertainment’ and ‘king of romance’ at the special screening: “The way he opens his arms wide and expresses his love”

Karan Johar was overwhelmed with the chants and cheers for him, SRK, Rani and the film.

25 years ago, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai released in theatres and filmmaker Karan Johar forayed into direction. On October 15, a few special screenings were held in Mumbai to celebrate the big milestone of the movie. Shah Rukh Khan, Rani Mukerji and Karan Johar surprised the audiences, who were reliving the movie, by visiting the theatres. Kajol missed the screening due to prior commitments, and all of them remembered her at the screening.

Karan Johar hugged SRK and the videos went viral on social media. Addressing the crowd on Sunday at the screening, Karan Johar was overwhelmed with the chants and cheers for him, SRK, Rani and the film. Karan said, “I wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for Bhai (SRK), if it wasn’t for Aditya Chopra. He is the emperor of entertainment and the king of romance, the template that is set, the way he opens his arms wide and expresses his love. His energy is infectious. So, thank you for being you, and thank you for allowing me to have this career.”

Shah Rukh Khan continued, “I just want to say something which is very important to me that you know when I joined the film industry, I made some friends who are now family - Mr. Yash Chopra, Mr. Yash Johar, Karan’s late dad and he was my friend actually more than Karan. He was my friend and my friend’s son is Karan who was 24 years old when he made Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. He has taken this company to great heights. Very proud of him as a friend’s son.”

Kuch Kuch Hota Hai is a story that revolves around Rahul, Anjali and Tina. After reading the letter her mother (Tina played by Rani Mukerji) had written for her before she died after giving birth to her, Anjali (Sana Saeed) decides to bring together her widowed father, Rahul (SRK), with his true love who is also named Anjali (Kajol). The film also stars Farida Jalal, Anupam Kher, Archana Puran Singh, Reema Lagoo and Himani Shivpuri.
