69th National Film Awards: Kriti Sanon shares how she celebrated her Best Actor win; says, “All of a sudden I started getting non-stop calls”

Bollywood actress Kriti Sanon, currently reigns supreme in both on-screen and off-screen spheres, making waves everywhere she goes. The latest addition to her long list of achievements is the prestigious Best Actress award at the 69th National Awards, a triumph that she earned for her portrayal in Mimi, a 2021 release where she took on the role of a surrogate mother.

Basking in the glow of her remarkable victory, Kriti spoke to ANI, sharing insights into how she celebrated this monumental moment in her life. Recounting the electrifying moment, she revealed, “I was in a meeting in the evening and all of a sudden I started getting non-stop calls. I couldn’t understand what was going on. I usually don't step outside the meetings to take calls but this time I had to, and that's when I really got to know about my win. I literally froze for a few seconds. I told my manager to hold the meeting for a while. I quickly ran towards my parents and shared the news with them. We hugged, we cried...We all got so emotional.

In a candid moment, Kriti humorously disclosed, “At my house, impromptu celebrations mean ordering a pizza (she giggled). Be it New Year or any random occasion, we like to treat ourselves to pizza. So, after learning about my win, my mother said, ‘let’s order some pizzas’. I celebrated this moment by having pizza in my pyjamas with my parents by my side.”

Expressing deep gratitude, Kriti conveyed her heartfelt appreciation to her supporters and the divine. “I thank God and my fans for everything. My prayers have been answered. I have a diary in which I write about my life, my dreams and my goals. After working in ‘Mimi’, I had penned down in my diary that I would win the national award for my performance in this film and I won it. I hope this win inspires boys and girls who watch thousands of dreams and want to make them come true.”

Apart from this, on the film front, Kriti was last seen in Om Raut’s directorial Adipurush. Produced by T-Series, Bhushan Kumar & Krishan Kumar, Om Raut, Prasad Sutar, and Rajesh Nair of Retrophiles, it was released worldwide on June 16, 2023. The actress will be next seen in Ganapath with Tiger Shroff, The Crew alongside Kareena Kapoor Khan and Tabu, and an untitled next with Shahid Kapoor, which is set to release on December 7. There have also been reports about the yet-untitled film that will see Kriti as a robot and Shahid as a scientist, who falls in love with the former. Dharmendra is also part of the project. She also has venture with own production, titled, Do Patti.
