Actor Firoz Khan who is also known as Arjun is happy that the present generation is getting to watch Mahabharat again. In an interview with a daily, Firoz recalled the days he auditioned for BR Chopra's Mahabharat and why he changed his name.
Firoz said that when he went to audition for the series, he saw actors like Deepak Parashar, Raj Babbar and Govinda there. For the audition, he was given two pages of dialogues in Hindi and it was Govinda who asked him to give a shot.
The actor believes he was destined to play Arjun even though the part was supposed to be essayed by Jackie Shroff. When the actor did not get a call even a week after the audition he went to Chopra 's office. He was asked to wear the costume and moustache and visited BR Chopra and the writers who said that he has been finalised to play Arjun.
Talking about why he changed his name, Firoz Khan said that whenever he would call up a producer, they would think that he is Feroz Khan. He said that when he would explain who he was the producers would ask him to call later and he would feel insulted. The actor said that it was Chopra and Dr Raza (Mahabharat writer) who recommended the tale as a new name. Firoz said that the change in name gave him everything he dreamt if and even his mother began to address him as Arjun.
