After the release of the trailer for Alia Bhatt’s much-anticipated film Jigra, fans and critics began drawing comparisons between the film and Ranbir Kapoor’s Animal. Though different in their core themes, both films have sparked discussions on social media regarding potential similarities. At a recent press meeting in Delhi, Alia Bhatt spoke candidly about these comparisons and shared insights on her professional relationship with her husband, Ranbir Kapoor.

Alia Bhatt Says, “No Competition”

When asked if there is any professional competition between her and Ranbir, Alia quickly dismissed the idea. "I wouldn’t say there’s any competition between us,” Alia remarked. “I feel very fortunate that my husband is also my best friend and a wonderful actor. We often discuss our films and scenes with each other. I talked about Gangubai Kathiawadi and Jigra. Every time I had a confusion, I would discuss it with him, and he did the same with me for Animal.”

Alia Bhatt Addresses Comparisons Between Jigra and Animal

While fans have noticed some thematic overlap between Jigra and Animal, Alia clarified that the similarities are superficial. "I know people have been comparing the two, but there really aren’t many similarities. It’s not just about Animal or Jigra; a common theme in many films is doing something for a loved one. It’s a genre in itself, and many movies have been made on these lines. So aside from that one aspect, there aren’t any direct similarities between the two films.”

Animal, directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga and released last year, was a huge box office success. The film centers on the troubled relationship between Ranvijay (played by Ranbir Kapoor) and his father. In contrast, Jigra, directed by Vasan Bala, delves into the bond between a brother and sister, portrayed by Alia Bhatt and Vedang Raina. Jigra is slated for release on October 11, and fans are eager to see Alia Bhatt in this emotionally charged role
