This week saw the release of Telugu film, Arvindha Sametha starring Young Tiger, Jr. NTR and Pooja Hegde in lead. The film directed by Trivikram took an earth-shattering start in Andhra Pradesh and proved to be the biggest opener of all time outside the Baahubali franchise. Jr. NTR’s star-power backed with a crowd-pleasing genre ensured an opening day distributor share in the range of Rs 26 crore in the Telugu speaking states.
Just like the usual norm for all Telugu films the biz did drop on Friday and Saturday as Arvindha Sametha raked in Rs 8 crore and Rs 7.50 crore on the two days respectively taking the three days aggregate share to Rs 41.50 crore. The domestic weekend share is expected to close in the range of Rs 48.50 to Rs 50 crore, which is nothing but phenomenal. Talking about overseas, the four days total of the film stands at approximately $1.90 to 2.00 Million (Rs 17 to Rs 18 crore) and the same has resulted in distributors share of Rs 7.20 crore. To sum it up, the four-day opening weekend worldwide share of Arvindha Sametha will land anywhere in the range of Rs 55 to 57 crore.
As per our trade sources, the worldwide distribution rights of this Jr. NTR film have been sold for Rs 90 crore, which means that after a strong weekend, the movie still needs to earn a share of approximately Rs 30 crore to break even. The reports of the film down south are quite positive which should ensure a healthy trend on the weekdays. The holiday on Thursday on account of Dussehra Holiday should further boost the collections and help it reach the recovery mark thereby emerging another successful film for Jr. NTR, who is on a dream run at the Box-Office since the release of Temper (2015). Until and unless the film crashes on Monday, an average verdict from hereon is assured.
In terms of lifetime collections, the movie will easily emerge the highest grossing film for Jr. NTR by surpassing the domestic and worldwide share of Janatha Garage - Rs 58 and Rs 77 crore respectively. It will be looking to challenge films like Khaidi No. 150 (Chiranjeevi), Bharat Ane Nenu (Mahesh Babu), Magadheera (Ram Charan) and Srimanthudu (Mahesh Babu) which had domestic distributors share in the range of Rs 60 to 75 crore. The record-breaking opening weekend has also ensured that the film will find a place in the top 10 highest grossing film of all time in the Telugu speaking states, however the task is still half done as yet and the test begins tomorrow.
Here’s a look at the verdict of last 4 Jr. NTR films:
Jai Lava Kusa (2017): Average
Nanaku Prematho (2016): Above Average
Janatha Garage (2016): Super Hit
Temper (2015): Hit
