The Batman star Colin Farell spent four hours in makeup chair to pull off Penguin transformation

Hollywood actor Colin Farrell will be playing the super villain in Matt Reeves’ much-anticipated film The Batman starring Robert Pattinson as the caped-crusader. In its recently released sneak-peak pictures, Collin Farrell looks barely recognizable in his stunning Penguin transformation that took nearly four hours to pull off.

At Variety’s Virtual Sundance Studio 2022, Colin Farrell shared how it was like to get into the character and recalled that the complete physical transformation required him to be in the makeup chair for “four hours” initially. “Eventually they got it down to two,” the actor then added.

With the makeup and costume, Colin Farrell’s dramatic transformation into the character certainly looks the part of a crime lord who's looking to make his move and ice anyone who dares call him Penguin to his face. Though the character is usually depicted as a leading figure in Gotham's structure of power, Farrell's Penguin is just as new as the Dark Knight in Reeves' film.

Colin Farrell also shared how thrilled and grateful he was to be involved in Matt Reeves’ version of the superhero reboot, “Matt Reeves is a wonderful filmmaker, so I was just grateful to be allowed anywhere near it,” the actor said.

"Hopefully people are entertained by it and moved by it. It’s a very unique take on a story that’s often been told,” Farrell added.

Starring Robert Pattinson as Bruce Wayne/Batman, the film will also see Zoe Kravitz in the role of Selina Kyle/Catwoman, Jeffrey Wright as Commissioner Jim Gordon, and Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth. The film will release exclusively in theaters on March 4, 2022. The story will take place in “Year Two” of Bruce Wayne
