The custom suits that South Korean juggernaut BTS members wore for their Grammy Awards 2021 performance are sold out for $160,000 (Rs. 1.19 crore approx) at the MusiCares charity auction that held on January 31, 2022.
The custom-made Louis Vuitton ensembles were worn by members RM, Jin, SUGA, j-hope, Jimin, V, and Jung Kook for the group's live performance at the 63rd annual Grammy Awards ceremony in 2021 for their Grammy nominated hit song 'Dynamite'.
The sales was hosted by Julien’s Auctions. Besides BTS, other items that were included for the auction are - a white and gold long sleeve dress worn by Dolly Parton in 2019 when she was honored by MusiCares, a silver dress that Katy Perry performed ‘California Girls’ in the silver ensemble in 2010 during a concert spotlighting Grammy nominee. Other items headed to the auction block include one of Jason Aldean’s cowboy hats, a jacket worn by Lionel Richie during his 2015 Glastonbury performance and guitars signed by Machine Gun Kelly and Metallica’s James Hetfield.
The items are sold to benefit the Recording Academy’s MusiCares, which helps provide health and other safety net assistance for those who need it in the music industry. Joni Mitchell was announced as this year’s MusiCares Person of the year.
On the work front, BTS is currently enjoying their time off of work. BTS’ Butter earned a Grammy nomination for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance at the 64th Annual Grammy Awards. On January 15, 2022, a new fictional webtoon based on BTS, titled 7Fates: Chako, was released with Variety reporting that it "has surpassed 15 million views in just two days of global launch and is now the highest viewed title ever launched by Webtoon. The OST 'Stay Alive' with Jungkook and produced by SUGA will be released on February 4.
