“I was craving to get that letter from Mr. Bachchan” – Taapsee Pannu on Manmarziyaan

It is a known fact in the industry that when Amitabh Bachchan loves the performance of an actor, he compliments him/her by means of a personalized handwritten letter. No wonder, when Taapsee Pannu received this letter from him for her performance in Manmarziyaan, she was truly ecstatic.

"Of course, who won't be," says Taapsee in a truly excited tone, "As an actor, you live for these moments. I have done films over the years and of course Manmarziyaan is special. Now to get a note from Mr. Bachchan is indeed an exceptional moment for me. I took to social media and announced to the whole world that I received this note from none other than Big B. I had to share my happiness."

Surprisingly, she didn't get a letter from Amitabh Bachchan even when she worked with him up, close and personal during Pink. One wonders whether that was deliberate on his part since it may have seemed akin to promoting his own film.

"I don't know about that actually," she smiles, "I did ask him though that when would I get a letter from him. He said that I would have to wait and come up with something truly remarkable and deserving. Guess he found me worthy enough for that when it came to Manmarziyaan."

Incidentally, even though the film stars his son Abhishek Bachchan as well, Amitabh Bachchan wrote a letter each to both Taapsee and Vicky Kaushal, but not Abhishek.

"It would have seemed rather odd, isn't it," says an insider, "When he didn't write a letter to Taapsee during the making of Pink so that it didn't come across as favouritism then how you can you expect him to do that to his son when he is sort of making a comeback to the big screen."

The good news though is that Abhishek is anyways getting some of the best acclaim in a career spanning almost two decades, what with accolades and appreciations coming in from all quarters. As for Taapsee, she would be hoping that there is a lot more to her name in months to follow as well when she shares screen space with Big B again in Sujoy Ghosh's Badla which releases all over in March next year.
