Today, Golmaal has become one of the biggest film series in India and Neeraj played a crucial role as he wrote the story, screenplay and dialogues of the first part. It became a runaway success and is still remembered for its crazy and funny moments.

Ajay Devgn, who has featured in all four parts of Golmaal, spoke exclusively to Bollywood Hungama on Neeraj Vora’s 60th birthday anniversary. He said, “It's sad that Neeraj went away so soon. His death was an untimely one. Speaking of his work, all I can say is that he was very talented. When it comes to comedy, there were very few writers like him.”

Ajay Devgn then revealed, “When Rohit Shetty and I heard the Golmaal narration, we were completely sold. I remember we were due to make something else but after hearing Neeraj's script, we were totally taken by it and decided to make it.” Besides Ajay, Golmaal also starred Arshad Warsi, Tusshar Kapoor, Sharman Joshi, Rimii Sen, Paresh Rawal, Manoj Joshi and Vrajesh Hirjee.

While signing off, Ajay Devgn said, “He's missed as a writer because he was excellent at what he did. I can tell you that Hindi cinema only stood to benefit from him.”

The success of Golmaal prompted the makers to make Golmaal Returns (2008), in which Neeraj Vora co-wrote the dialogues. The sequel was also a hit and it was followed by Golmaal 3 (2010) and Golmaal Again (2017).

Neeraj Vora passed away on December 14, 2017. He was in a coma for 13 months after suffering from a massive heart attack and brain stroke.
