EXCLUSIVE: Composer duo Vishal-Sheykhar shed light on genesis of Besharam Rang; credits lyricist Kumaar : Bollywood News

Shah Rukh Khan’s latest release, Pathaan, had been at the centre of controversy due to its song ‘Besharam Rang’. For the unversed, the use of the term “Besharam Rang” filmed on a heroine wearing a saffron colour bikini did not go down well with a couple of fringe groups. From the makers to the actors, all were brutally trolled online and offline for making certain choices and set-up in the song. In an interview with Bollywood Hungama, ‘Besharam Rang’ composers Vishal Dadlani and Sheykhar Ravjiani, popularly known as Vishal-Sheykhar, briefly spoke about the genesis of the Deepika Padukone starrer song.

During the conversation, while speaking about the making of ‘Besharam Rang’, the duo had also revealed that the song had a different intro and the title of the song, ‘Besharam Rang’, was earlier its hook line. Upon this, Sheykhar explained why they skip a standard Vishal-Sheykhar song because of “an old-school” thought process.

When asked how they come to 'Besharam Rang’ as their hook line, Vishal asserted, “honestly genius on this one is Kumaar. He took the brief and translated it into lyrics in the most beautiful way possible. The idea was there's a girl, who is incredibly attractive by her sheer lack of innovation, and he conveyed the same in such a beautiful and poetic manner.”

Meanwhile, speaking of its brief, Vishal explained that they were told that it’s a female song, it is a sensual song. In fact, they didn’t know the location and set-up of the song, when they were creating it.
