Shakun Batra, who is currently making headlines for his poetic narration as a director in the film Gehraiyaan recently participated in The Gehraiyaan Debate- Filmmakers vs Critics. In the debate, one of the Film critics mentioned that several conversations came out of Gehraiyaan. The critic also added that there was a switch in the genre. It went from a romantic genre to a more different one. If Shakun wanted he could have called it ‘Khanna and Daughters’ but he did not. To which Batra chuckled and added, “That was a joke. I couldn't find a title for the longest time and we were like - should we call it Khanna and daughters”.

Shakun Batra’s last movie venture was Kapoor and Sons which was released in 2016. Similar to Gehraiyaan, Kapoor and Sons had a dramatic genre shift in the movie when Fawad Khan’s character Rahul came out as gay. Critics quote that Shakun Batra as a director is famously known for poetic stories and dramatic genre shifts in his movies.

Gehraiyaan was released on 11th February 2022 and so far it has been highly appreciated by the audience. The film features Deepika Padukone, Ananya Panday, Siddhant Chaturvedi, and Dhariya Karwa in pivotal roles.
