Actor Ananya Panday is currently gearing up for the release of her Pan-India film Liger. The actor, along with co-star Vijay Deverakonda, sat for an exclusive conversation with Bollywood Hungama and revealed her father, actor Chunky Panday’s love for massy films and how he was so gung-ho about her doing a film like his David Dhawan-directed 1993 film Aankhen.

“Whenever my mom and I are discussing whatever film I'm going to do next, he's like you have to do a massy film because that's his brand of cinema,” Ananya said. “That's the cinema that he's loved being a part of, that’s the cinema he loves watching as an audience. So, I think that's why he wants me also to kind of get a taste of that or be a part of a film that's loved by so many, that causes so much happiness, entertainment and goes down through the years like Aankhen for example.”
She continued, “I still watch it, how many ever times I watch it I love it so much, I laugh so much. Just the idea of bringing joy to people for right now and then for so many years even later, he loves the concept of that, it’s just the person that he is. He's been so gung-ho about me doing a massy film and when I told him about this then he was like ‘You have to do it; you have to be a part of this film. I want to be a part of this film.’”
“So, I think he's the happiest person, seeing all these videos in the malls and everyone going crazy and these massy songs that we're putting out, he's like on cloud nine,” she added.
Liger will see South actor Vijay Deverakonda play the role of an underdog boxer who makes his way to international fame. The movie will also feature a cameo of former American professional boxer Mike Tyson. Helmed by Puri Jagannadh, the movie will arrive in theatres on August 25.
