Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 is currently raking in good moolah at the box office. But the shooting of the film was far from a smooth ride. From cast and crew becoming victims of the pandemic to lockdown to budgeting issues, the film faced many obstacles on the way. Co-producers, Bhushan Kumar and Murad Khetani described their struggle in making this Kartik Aaryan, Kiara Advani, Tabu starrer in this exclusive interview with Bollywood Hungama.
Bhushan Kumar credited co-producer Murad Khetani for the entire hard work behind shooting for Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 in the exclusive interview with Bollywood Hungama. He explained, “Creatively initially our decisions are taken jointly. But execution wise all credit goes to Murad Bhai. He has worked really hard on this film. I don’t interfere much in these things. In fact, all the tough things, all the things that are stressful were all handled by Murad Bhai, and that too very perfectly! I haven’t done in anything much on that front. Obviously, I have always supported him morally and Murad bhai knows it too. We have always coordinated at every step of shooting. He has always told me everything about what is happening on the film. Because of Lockdown, we had to go over budget but we have always stayed together.” Murad Khetani too agreed that they have always supported each other in every moment.
Bhushan Kumar went on to add, “As far as execution is concerned, I don’t interfere in that matter because I honestly don’t have the bandwidth for it. I have so many things around me that I am unable to find time to do anything on that front. Hats off to Murad Bhai for handling everything. Even today, we are only releasing the film because we had Murad Bhai with us, otherwise, the film wouldn’t have been released. From VFX work to aligning everything around, he has been a hands-on producer who has been regularly following up and focusing on it. There were so many lockdowns in between the shoot schedules but still, he managed and executed it. There were so many hurdles. From actors falling ill due to COVID-19 to the film’s crew like the cameraman, DOP getting it, we faced many challenges. We even announced the film’s date four times. Even when we announced this date, we were not sure if we can deliver. But Murad Bhai was! He was confident that we can release the film and he did!”
Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 is produced by Murad Khetani and Bhushan Kumar. The horror-comedy is directed by Anees Bazmee and it was released in theatres on May 20.
