EXCLUSIVE: Suchitra Krishnamoorthi talks about her play Drama Queen; says “Main bach gayi” when asked what would have happened if she had married Ram Gopal Varma : Bollywood News

Suchitra Krishnamoorthi has been a talented film actor, singer, painter and author and since 6 years, she has also emerged as a fine theatre actor. She adapted her book Drama Queen into a play of the same name. After a hiatus due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the play will resume, starting with a show on April 16 at Mumbai’s St Andrews auditorium.

Drama Queen, the novel, has been a bestseller and the 75-minute-long play has also been equally loved. This is because it’s quite relatable, and funny and also because Suchitra mentions the names of some prominent Bollywood celebrities. In the middle of the book, she raises laughs as she mentions how she tried to persuade Ram Gopal Varma, Karan Johar and Nagesh Kukunoor to marry her. She also asked director Ken Ghosh to help her find a suitor.

However, what stands out in the novel is her interaction with Ram Gopal Varma. In the book, she’s seen meeting him after proposing marriage. However, RGV refuses her offer because he tells her that "I use women only for sex. I like women's bodies, not their brains. In my opinion, a woman should be seen and not heard."

Bollywood Hungama recently spoke to Suchitra Krishnamoorthi about Drama Queen, the play. When asked about the Ram Gopal Varma track in the book, she said, “He was aware of the book and the play. I couldn’t have done this without his consent. I am really grateful to him.”

In the book, Suchitra is seen leaving Ram Gopal Varma’s office in shock after he drops the bomb. She’s also seen realizing later on that marrying Ramu would not have been a good choice. Her gang of girlfriends also tell her the same. However, has Suchitra Krishnamoorthi ever imagined how her life would have been today had Ram Gopal Varma would have agreed to marry her? She laughed uncontrollably on hearing this question and quipped, “Main bach gayi!”
