EXCLUSIVE: Taran Adarsh shares his opinion on Salman Khan’s potential beyond “masala stuff”; says, “He needs to work with better directors”

In an interaction with Bollywood Hungama, trade expert Taran Adarsh opened up about his take on Salman Khan and his body of work.

The release of Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan is around the corner. Going by the poor performances of a bunch of Bollywood films in the first quarter of 2023, predicting the fate of the Salman Khan starrer could be tricky for anyone. Recently, trade expert Taran Adarsh decoded the first quarter of 2023 in the entertainment industry with Bollywood Hungama. During his interaction, he also spoke about KKBKKJ, its trailer and what he has to say about it. “On record” Taran stated that he did not like to see Salman Khan romancing on the screen.

Adarsh asserted, “I have mixed reactions. I didn’t like Salman playing a romantic hero, and I’d like to say this on record. But, I liked him in action. He is my age, 58, and he is so good at action scenes. I genuinely feel that Salman should concentrate on different characters or different films.”

He further explained, “I think one of his best performances or should I say finest performance, I won’t say finest, but I loved him in Bajrangi Bhaijaan. I love him in Sultan. There is a very emotional side that needs to be tapped. Heroism is very good ke aapne mukka maara aur das log hawa mein udatey hai. That’s very good. I liked Salman where he bashes up the will in the Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan trailer.”

Concluding his take, Taran said, “But I genuinely feel that there’s so much more to Salman than the usual masala stuff that he does. Also, I feel that he needs to work with better directors. I genuinely feel that and I've been very vocal about it.”

Talking about Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan, the film is slated to release on April 21. Helmed by Farhad Samji, the ensemble star cast of the film features Pooja Hegde, Venkatesh Daggubati, Jagapathi Babu, Bhumika Chawla, Vijender Singh, Abhimanyu Singh, Raghav Juyal, Siddharth Nigam, Jassie Gill, Shehnaaz Gill, Palak Tiwari and Vinali Bhatnagar.
