Bollywood actor Vijay Varma recently shared a touching anecdote about his passion for comic books and how a significant part of his collection was lost but is now making an extraordinary comeback.
In an exclusive interview with Bollywood Hungama, sharing his love for comic books Vijay said, “I had a massive collection of around 500 comic books. When I ran away from home at the age of 21, my father sold it to a kabaadi in anger. So, I was very hurt and unhappy about that.”
Vijay's story reached the ears of many after he shared it in a podcast. His account resonated with people, including the creators of Raj Comics and fellow comic enthusiasts. The story spread like wildfire and eventually reached the very people who made the comic books he once loved. This chain of events led to a heartwarming development: comic book enthusiasts from all over began to send him replacements for his lost collection, effectively helping him rebuild it. He said, “But in a podcast I mentioned it, that reel was shared and it reached the comic book, the Raj Comics and other people, so a lot of people have (sent) the comic books and my collection is growing back all over again.”
“I have got my entire collection of Super Commando Dhruva. If I ever want to make a comic book character from Raj Comics, I would do either Super Commando Dhruva or Doga or Bheriya,” said Vijay.
On the work front, he delivered back to back stellar performances with after Darlings, Dahaad, Lust stories 2 and his most recent show, Kaalkoot. It definitely is the Year of Vijay Varma with a string of superlative performances. He will be next seen in Devotion of Suspect X alongside Kareena Kapoor Khan and Murder Mubarak alongside Sara Ali Khan and the much-anticipated Mirzapur 3.
