On July 3, followed by the heavy rains, the infrastructure facilities in Mumbai caused major chaos with the city almost coming to a standstill. The city residents would be aware that a major flyover bridge in Andheri, suburban Mumbai turned into shambles. It also resulted in the dysfunction of the trains on the western line and extensive traffic on the roads. This is the second bridge fiasco after the Elphinstone bridge mishap. Slamming the Brihanmumbai Corporation, many Bollywood celebrities have voiced out their opinion on the constant consequences the city residents have to face owing to the low quality infrastructure.
One amongst them is the multi-talented artist Farhan Akhtar. The actor-filmmaker has, many times in the past, voiced out his support to social causes and has also spoken up many social issues. In a similar way, after the incident, Farhan lashed out at BMC on his Twitter handle wherein he wrote, “Andheri bridge collapse is yet another reminder of how pathetic Mumbai’s infrastructure is. For a city that gives so much to the exchequer, we deserve better, if not best.”

Another celebrity who decided to slam the BMC for the low quality infrastructure and such mishaps, was Atul Kasbekar. The Neerja producer compared Mumbai to Singapore and how the latter manages to retain its infrastructure despite the constant torrential rains. “It rains in Singapore almost EVERY DAY!!! There’s never a bloody pothole on even a side street there. It rains 3 months annually here. Why can’t we have roads in Mumbai that don’t resemble Armstrong’s buggy ride on the moon?!? Too much to ask?”

Popularly known as the host of the TV show Crime Patrol, Annup Sonni too expressed his disappointment over the incident and advised everyone to take such matters seriously. He said on Twitter, “It's not confusing...It's a very sad state of affairs...We need to stop making a joke about it and taking it so lightly, only then will the authorities take us, the mumbaikars and the situation seriously...”
