A success press conference of Gadar 2 was held today in Mumbai after the film managed to cross Rs. 130 crores in just three days. Sunny Deol was in a rare talkative mood as he spoke about various aspects of the film.
Sunny Deol was asked if he had any reservations since the first part, Gadar – Ek Prem Katha (2001), was released 22 years ago. Sunny replied, “We didn’t think along those lines. We had the conviction and we decided to go for it. 22 saal tak field khaali thi. Koi aisi filmein kyun nahin bana raha tha? Aisi film bana rahe hote toh baat kuch aur hoti. Field khaali thi. Isliye hum aayein aur humne hamara kaam kiya!”
Sunny Deol was also quizzed on what made him promote Gadar 2 extensively like never before. He revealed, “The Gadar series is very close to my heart. I am deeply connected with Tara Singh. Main nahin chahta tha ki Tara Singh ko leke koi kami reh jaaye. Isliye hum junta ke saath jud gaye taaki log Tara Singh ko dekhe aur unke saath jud jaayein.”
He then jokingly remarked, “I don’t know why but I am talking a lot now! Earlier, I used to never open my mouth. Pehle main bolta hi kahan tha!”
Shariq Patel, CBO, Zee Studios, was also present at the press conference. He was asked if Gadar 2 will get tax exemption. He answered, “We’ve put in applications. The process will take time. Whether or not it gets tax exemption, the film is running successfully. It’s up to the governments. I hope it gets tax-free so that more people can see it. Maybe you guys should write about it!”
Apart from Sunny Deol and Shariq Patel, director Anil Sharma, co-actor Utkarsh Sharma and writer Shaktimaan were also in attendance at this memorable press event.
