Akshay Kumar’s next is Yash Raj Films’ first historical, Samrat Prithviraj, which is based on the life and valour of the fearless and mighty King Prithviraj Chauhan. He is essaying the role of the warrior who fought to protect India from the merciless invader Muhammad of Ghor. Ahead of the film's release, the actor sat down for an interview where the actor mentioned that Indian kings hardly get mentioned in the school books whereas invaders occupy major chunk.
"Unfortunately, our history textbooks only have two-three lines about Samrat Prithviraj Chauhan, but a lot has been mentioned about the invaders," Akshay Kumar said in an interview to news agency ANI. "There is hardly anything about our culture and our Maharajas (in history books)."
"Nobody is there to write about it in our history books. I would like to appeal to the Education minister to look into this matter and see if we can balance it. We should know about Mughals, but know about our kings too. They were great too," said Akshay Kumar.
"All thanks to our PM who has taken us in such a huge way internationally. Things changing for our country," he added.
Samrat Prithviraj has been directed by Dr. Chandraprakash Dwivedi. The film is set to release this Friday in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu.
