Karan Johar recently completed 25 years as a filmmaker, on October 16. This was the day when his debut directorial, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai was released in 1998. Starring Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol and Rani Mukerji with Salman Khan in a special appearance, the love saga emerged as one of the biggest hits of all time. It made KJo a household name and the blockbuster success of his subsequent films added to his popularity. He later also became a chat show host with ‘Koffee With Karan’. Audiences loved how he called some of the biggest stars of Bollywood and got them to utter controversial and headline-grabbing statements.
During an interaction held by Pinkvilla, Karan Johar was asked by a fan who should play him if a biopic is made. Without blinking an eyelid, Karan Johar answered, “Ranveer Singh. He does a great imitation of me, by the way. When Ranveer did ‘Koffee With Karan’ last year, he imitated many stars. This year, I shot with him.”
As soon as he said it, he regretted it and sighed, “Oh, God. I let that out!” As expected, there was laughter and claps among the audience.
Nevertheless, Karan Johar continued, “I requested him to imitate again (on the new season of ‘Koffee With Karan’). But he refused, citing ‘You don’t do something twice. We have done it. It’s been received with a lot of love. I don’t want to do it again’.”
He then added, “Ranveer is a chameleon. He can transform into anything. If at all my biopic is made, I’d always root for Ranveer Singh.”
Both Karan Johar and Ranveer Singh worked earlier this year in the romantic family drama Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, co-starring Alia Bhatt, Dharmendra, Jaya Bachchan and Shabana Azmi. It emerged as a huge hit in India and overseas.
