Jackie Shroff joins hands with JK Foundation to host free medical camp on World Thalassemia Day; says, “I am glad that we are raising an alarm”

To celebrate World Thalassemia Day, actor Jackie Shroff collaborated with JK Foundation and Cultural Affairs Minister Sudhir Mungantiwar to host a free medical camp.

Actor Jackie Shroff is often seen as associated with various social causes. In fact, he has dedicated a great deal of his time in contributing to society. Often spotted at events spreading positivity with a little plant he carries, Jackie has great deeds happening on the philanthropic front. The Pan-India actor has been beautifully juggling between being a star and an activist. Now, on the occasion of World Thalassemia Day (8th May), Jackie has taken up the cause of helping mankind in association with JK Foundation & Cultural Affairs Minister Sudhir Mungantiwar.

Together they organized a free medical camp on May 7 and 8, at Borivali in Mumbai, where along with the Thalassemia screening test, a lot of other checkups were done on the attendees at absolutely no cost. The staff of Siddhivinayak Hospital in Thane were gracious enough to lend their support.

Talking about why awareness of Thalassemia is important, Jackie Shroff says, “Every year, at least 10-15 thousand babies are born with Thalassemia. In fact, this condition is of great concern but underlies only leading to greater risk. A lot of people are not aware that Thalassemia occurs when the body doesn’t produce enough haemoglobin. I am glad that we are raising an alarm about this concern with the blood disorder. I thank JK Foundation and Sudhir Mungantiwarji for organizing such a noble and generous initiative.”

Hailing from a humble background himself, Jackie has always been a messiah of the common man. And it isn’t just this cause, but a lot many social causes that the actor has been associated with. Well, a powerful man associating with a social cause for the benefit of the masses only makes mankind triumph, and Jackie is undoubtedly on that journey.
