LOC Kargil completes 20 years: Ajay Devgn, Abhishek Bachchan, and Esha Deol pen heartfelt notes

Inspired by the real-life heroes who lost their lives in the Kargil War, the JP Dutta directorial featured an ensemble cast.

After the emotional Border, JP Dutta was keen on recreating the same love for patriotic dramas with LOC Kargil. The film showcased the lives of the military officials who were a part of the Kargil war, and featured an ensemble cast of Sanjay Dutt, Ajay Devgn, Saif Ali Khan, Abhishek Bachchan, Suniel Shetty, Akshaye Khanna, Manoj Bajpayee, Nagarjuna, Raveena Tandon, Rani Mukerji, Kareena Kapoor, Esha Deol, among others. Now 20 years after its release, some members of the cast took to social media to share their memories associated with the entertainer.

LOC Kargil, which aimed at giving a deeper insight into what transpired at the battlefield during the Kargil War, was an emotional drama which attempted to showcase the life of military officials. Ajay Devgn, who essayed the role of real-life warrior Lt. Manoj Kumar Pandey, 1/11 Gorkha Rifles, took to his Instagram to share some BTS moments from the film as he added, “#20YearsOFLOCKargil, thank you for the scars that serve as a reminder of the battles fought... grateful for the journey, the memories, and the friends I made along the way”.

On the other hand, Abhishek Bachchan, who played the character of Captain Vikram Batra, 13 Jammu and Kashmir Rifles, also posted some photos from the sets of the film and captioned it saying, “Time flies! Cannot believe it’s been 20 yrs since the release of L.O.C. Such great memories making the film with so many friends. But an even greater honour to be able to tell the stories of our true heroes in the Indian armed forces. Thank you JP sahab for choosing me and giving me the opportunity to be a part in the film.”

He was joined by Esha Deol, who essayed the role of his fiancé Dimple Cheema, as she wrote, “JP Dutta ji thank you for trusting me with the most emotional role of Dimple .. this was one of my most memorable experiences as an actor.. working opposite Abhishek for the first time @bachchan where he played Vikram batra to perfection ( AB it’s 20 to us too as co actors ?????? ) simply an unforgettable journey filming LOC kargil . Congratulations to the entire star cast & team .. Salute ???? Jai hind .. yeh dil mange more ??” Interestingly, years later, in 2021, the role of Vikram Batra and Dimple was recreated by Sidharth Malhotra and Kiara Advani in Shershaah.
