For the unversed, Dil Bechara, an adaptation of John Green's novel The Fault in Our Stars, featured Sushant Singh Rajput and Sanjana Sanghi in lead roles. The narrative revolved around two terminal cancer patients who form a deep bond while coping with their shared tragedy. The film, released after Sushant's untimely demise, marked Sanjana Sanghi's debut as a lead actor. Alongside the late actor and Sanghi, the movie featured Swastika Mukherjee and Saswata Chatterjee.

Sushant Singh Rajput's tragic demise on June 14, 2020, shocked the nation, prompting investigations into the circumstances surrounding his death. Initially handled by the Mumbai Police, the case was later transferred to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). The AIIMS medical board, after reviewing the evidence, confirmed Sushant's cause of death as suicide, dispelling any notions of foul play.
