Netflix unveils spooky first look at Jenna Ortega’s Wednesday Addams in Tim Burton’s The Addams Family spinoff; watch video

Netflix has released a new teaser for Wednesday, Tim Burton’s eight-episode spinoff of The Addams Family giving a first look at the series set to bow on June 6, during Netflix’s Geeked Week.

Last year Netflix announced Jenna Ortega in the titular role of Wednesday, in Tim Burton's upcoming series that also features Catherine Zeta-Jones and Luis Guzman. The Scream 5 actress makes a brief appearance in the trailer, released by streaming giant on Monday, with long braided pigtails. Dressed in Wednesday’s traditional garb – a long-sleeve black dress with a pilgrim-esque collar and matching cuffs, she walks towards the camera while giving an eerie stare before snapping her fingers and disappearing into the dark.

"A twisted new series from the mind of Tim Burton," reads the description in the teaser. According to Collider, the horror spinoff series will follow the titular character as she tries to hone her natural psychic abilities and survive school. The series is being described as a young adult series and will feature the talent of Chistina Ricci as a regular cast member. Ricci had her breakout role as Wednesday Addams in 1991’s The Addams Family and its sequel, Addams Family Values.

Wednesday also stars Catherine Zeta-Jones as Morticia Addams, Luis Guzmán as Gomez Addams, Garfunkel and Oates’ Riki Lindhome as Dr. Valerie Kinbott; Jamie McShane as Sheriff Donovan Galpin, and Isaac Ordonez as Pugsley, Wednesday’s younger brother. Gwendoline Christie will also appear as a main cast member known as Larissa Weems.
