Piyush Mishra Regrets Doing JNU

Mishra, known for his outspoken views, has been vocal about his criticism of the film's content. He described his role as minimal, stating that he had agreed to the project without even reading the script. “I unconditionally apologise for this. I did it because of bitterness,” he said.

The actor attributed his decision to past disillusionment with Communist ideology, a political leaning he once adhered to. “I didn’t take up work in Mumbai, I turned down money,” he shared, reflecting on his earlier years. However, he later realised the impracticality of the ideology, leading to feelings of resentment.

Mishra's criticism extended to the film's portrayal of certain political viewpoints, with the actor asserting, “Mujhe malum hai leftists ki aukaat kya hai”(I know the worth of leftists).

The film JNU, released in June 2024, sparked significant controversy upon its release, with many labelling it as propaganda. Despite featuring a star-studded cast, including Urvashi Rautela, Ravi Kishan, and Vijay Raaz, the film failed to resonate with the audiences.
