Politician criticizes trolling of Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh after their appearance in Koffee With Karan 8: “Why do raw human emotions make them uncomfortable?”

A politician has called out trolls for targeting Deepika Padukone after her appearance on the first episode of Karan Johar's Koffee With Karan Season 8.

Politician Supriya Srinate has slammed trolls for targeting Deepika Padukone after her appearance on Karan Johar's Koffee With Karan 8. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Srinate wrote, "Instead of applauding their courage to speak about issues that we brush under the carpet as a society - they, especially the woman has become the subject of vicious trolling, character assassination and vulgar memes.”

For the unversed, Padukone had received some criticism on social media over some of her comments on the KWK episode, including her revelation that she was casually dating other people while seeing Ranveer Singh before their engagement when she was not fully committed to him. However, Srinate defended the actress, saying that she should be praised for speaking openly about her experiences.

"This is the reality of many women, but we don't talk about it because we are afraid of being judged. Deepika Padukone has shown courage by speaking openly about her experiences, and we should be applauding her for that," Srinate wrote.

Srinate also criticized the trolls for their "vicious" and "inhumane" behavior. "Why can't people handle reality? Why do raw human emotions make them uncomfortable? Why does everything have to be candy-coated?" she asked.

"People have become so bitter, so full of hate, so inhumane, and so judgemental. It's time to stop this vicious trolling and start celebrating our differences," Srinate concluded.

Having said that it is worth mentioning that previously actor and stand-up comedian Vir Das and filmmaker Karan Johar also extended their support and called out the trollers.

Coming back to Deepika, she was last seen in Jawan, starring Shah Rukh Khan and directed by Atlee. The actress has multiple projects in her kitty including Fighter with Hrithik Roshan and Kalki 2898 AD with Prabhas and Amitabh Bachchan.
