It was a red-letter day for Shatrughan Sinha's family when his son Kush tied the knot with Tarunna at a very private ceremony on Sunday.

Among the politician-actor's close friends from the film fraternity who attended were Shatruji's political ally actress Hema Malini, the Bachchans and Subhash Ghai. The latter who is Mrs Punam Sinha's raakhi-brother presided over the proceedings as an active member of the Sinha family.

To the surprise and delight of the Sinhas, Prime Minister Narendra Modi made an appearance at Kush's wedding.

Says an insider, "Sonakshi had personally visited Mr Modi with her parents to invite him for the wedding. He had assured her he'd try to come for the wedding...and he did! The family was understandably touched. It isn't easy for the country's Prime Minister to attend a private wedding in Mumbai. But he did."

Exhausted and exhilarated after the wedding, Shatruji said, "It felt like a divinely blessed marriage. Everything went smoothly. It was the first wedding in my immediate family. And we were nervous. But my wife took care of everything. I just had to stand there and greet the guests."

About the Prime Minister showing up at the wedding, Shatruji said, "It speaks volume about Modiji's personality. He saw it worth his precious time to attend. This is the kind of graceful gesture that makes him extra-special."
