Rajveer Deol reveals that his father Sunny Deol did not want him to become an actor; says, “Even now they wish I was doing something else”

At the trailer launch of his debut film Dono, Rajveer Deol revealed that his parents believed the success and failure in an acting career can take a toll on him.

Sunny Deol, who has been a part of this industry for decades, has tasted success and failure within the industry. Owing to the volatile nature of this profession, the doting father advised his second son Rajveer Deol to take up a different career path. At the recently held trailer launch of Rajveer’s debut film Dono, alongside debutant actress Paloma Dhillon, the actor revealed about the advice his family gave about choosing acting as a profession.

Readers would recall that the trailer launch of Rajveer Deol and Paloma Dhillon starrer Dono was held in Mumbai on September 4. The launch pad for these star kids was given by Rajshri Productions with Avnish Barjatya, son of popular filmmaker Sooraj Barjatya, making his directorial debut with this romantic drama. At the launch, Rajveer revealed that his father Sunny Deol was not at all happy with him choosing acting as his career. “My parents hated the fact that I’m becoming an actor. They wanted me to study and do something else, because this industry is so unpredictable. You are happy for a second and miserable for not getting work.” Referring to how his father got a blockbuster with Gadar 2 after two decades, Rajveer added, “I mean, dad got a hit after 22 years. So, they were worried, because it’s such a mentally draining line. But I just fell in love with acting, I couldn’t get enough of it. Even now they wish I was doing something else.”

When the parents finally accepted his decision, Rajveer also revealed the advice he got from them. “I felt one could just disguise themselves in the characters. So this is what I wanted to do. My family advised me to work hard. They told me not to be a star and try to be an actor first, as the characters will make me a star,” he maintained.

Rajshri Productions’ Dono is slated for release on October 5.
