Veteran actor Ranjeet recently shared a fascinating anecdote about his interaction with the legendary filmmaker Raj Kapoor. In an interview with ANI, Ranjeet described his first encounter with the late actor-filmmaker at the studio, where he was struck by the life-size cut-outs of actresses who had graced Kapoor’s films.

Ranjeet went on to detail Kapoor's warm personality, highlighting how his charming on-screen persona translated into real life. During their conversation, Kapoor reminisced about his film Mera Naam Joker, a movie he himself directed. As they looked through an album from that era, Kapoor revealed a surprising directing technique he used on set.

"He [Raj Kapoor] told us, Mera Naam Joker picture thi na… uski heroine ko god mein bithakar scene samjhaaya hai (I made the heroine of Mera Naam Joker sit on my lap and narrated the scenes),'” Ranjeet recalled. However, Ranjeet stated that Kapoor's actions were not flirtatious. "He would call the actress ‘putar’ (daughter) when he asked her to sit on his lap," the actor clarified.

Mera Naam Joker featured a star-studded cast including Simi Garewal, Rishi Kapoor, Kseniya Ryabinkina, Padmini, Manoj Kumar, and Dharmendra. The interview also offered a glimpse into the vibrant social scene of Bollywood during that period. Ranjeet reminisced about how actors would gather at his house in Mumbai for lively gatherings.

"My parents lived in Delhi and I lived in Juhu, so everyone would gather there in the evening. There were no inhibitions or formalities or whatever," Ranjeet said. He went on to describe a heartwarming scene where actresses like Reena Roy, Parveen Babi, Moushumi Chatterjee, and Neetu Kapoor would contribute to the party atmosphere by preparing food and drinks.
