Indian cinema's prolific actor Irrfan Khan, who successfully made a huge impact in both Indian cinema and Hollywood, passed away on Wednesday, April 29. The actor was battling neuroendocrine tumour since 2018. He passed away at the age of 54 and was survived by his wife Sutapa, and sons Babil and Ayan.
Internationally, the actor worked with some of the finest talents like Tom Hanks, Chris Pratt, Life Of Pi, Andrew Garfield among others. The actor was not only approached by bigwigs, he even turned down a huge opportunity. Irrfan Khan had to let go of Christopher Nolan’s Interstellar, earlier titled The Man, which starred Matthew McConaughey in the lead role. The reason being that he did not have enough dates to spend four months in United States. He said that he never regretted any of his decisions but it was a tough decision for him to turn down ace filmmaker Christopher Nolan.
Speaking to Bollywood Hungama back in 2017 when he was promoting Hindi Medium, he revealed, “I did not decline the offer. The problem was time constraints. It required me to stay abroad for many months and that is why I couldn’t be a part of it.
Irrfan Khan's prolific work includes Salaam Bombay!, Maqbool, Paan Singh Tomar, Mumbai Meri Jaan, The Lunchbox, Haider, Piku, The Namesake, Talvar and Hindi Medium.
His international work includes movies like Jurassic World, Inferno, Life Of Pi, Slumdog Millionaire, The Amazing Spiderman, Puzzle among others.
