Still hurting from the non-performance of Veer where he couldn't put his foot down as a result of which the film not just became lengthy but also boring after a while, Salman is now ensuring that he is in synch with the director when it comes to creative decisions. He did that earlier with Dabangg and now he has done something like this for Ready as well where one such decision has been to cut short the length of the Hindi version of Ready which is the namesake remake of Telugu blockbuster featuring Ram and Genelia D'Souza.
"Bhai was very impressed with the original film but he knew that for the film to cater to all-India sensibilities, especially up North as well as Central region, Ready had to be much crisper. This meant that not just the length of the film had to be controlled, even the humour quotient had to be re-looked at while certain portions in the first half had to be drastically changed", informs a source.
What further helped the show to run smoothly was the fact that even writer-director Anees Bazmee was totally on board regarding this from day one and was already working in this direction. There was no issue whatsoever between him and Salman as they both felt that a lot of re-work was required for Ready.
Resultantly, the film was made around 45 minutes shorter and the running length is now just 2 hours and 20 minutes instead of near 3 hours duration that Telugu version of Ready had.
"The basic skeleton of Ready is just the same but we have let go off some repetitive sequences as the ones that were boring in the first half as well", says Bazmee, "Also, the film would now appeal more to North Indian sensibilities. Just because we had the remake rights doesn't mean that we just copied it as is. The setting of the film has changed while the kind of humour also is the kind that is not regional."
Guess unlike the kind of complaints that he had from his Veer director Anil Sharma who apparently wasn't as flexible when it came to his demands, Sallu is fine with his No Entry director open to all the suggestions coming his way.
