Filmmaker Rahul Dholakia recently shed light on the extraordinary talent displayed by Shah Rukh Khan during the making of his 2017 film, Raees. Dholakia recounted a specific scene where Khan's character, a bootlegger, is summoned to the police station of a formidable officer played by Nawazuddin Siddiqui. What makes this scene particularly noteworthy is that it was filmed seven months after the preceding scene.

In a conversation with Mukesh Chhabra for Mashable India, Dholakia revealed that Khan effortlessly picked up where he left off, delivering a performance that was indistinguishable from his earlier take. Dholakia expressed his astonishment saying, “When we shot the scene, ‘Majmudar ne aapko bulaya hai’ for which he has to go to Majmudar’s police station, which is in the next scene. Between these two scenes, it was seven months.”

He added, “The man (SRK) came on set after seven months, in between he shot for Dilwale (Rohit Shetty’s film), he did several other things, we also released the film’s trailer. Even after seven months had passed, he caught the same character, same sur (tone), same emotion. I think only great actors can do that.”

Raees, set in the era of 1980s Gujarat, chronicles the rise and fall of a bootlegger navigating the treacherous world of crime and law enforcement. Raees boasted a talented ensemble cast, including Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Mahira Khan (in her Indian debut), Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub, Atul Kulkarni, Sheeba Chaddha, and Jaideep Ahlawat.
