Shah Rukh Khan talks about humanity, fame and love on TED Talks, and you can’t stop listening to him

Touted as one of the megastars of Bollywood, King Khan as he is fondly addressed as recently was invited to TED talks to talk about his journey. The 51 year old superstar, who still has a good hold at the Bollywood box office, is also known for his witty oratory skills. Hence, it wasn’t surprising to see the man taking the stage with confidence and poise.

From his journey of innocence to the sudden change he encountered when he shifted to the urban, high-profile glamour industry to his current superstardom. Amidst his journey, he spoke about the entry of the internet and his love for social media. Whilst he believed that it was a path-breaking concept that will increase connectivity amongst the world, he did not believe that it could be used as a platform where people with closed thoughts and narrow minds could make judgements. “Everything I said took a new meaning. Everything I did – good, bad, ugly was there for the world to comment upon and judge. As a matter of fact, everything I didn’t say or do so also met with the same fate,” said Shah Rukh Khan.

Taking an example of how AbRam was claimed to be Shah Rukh Khan’s elder son Aryan’s son, Shah Rukh Khan revealed about how it was disturbing to come across such horrendous rumours that were being spread about his family. Further admitting about how he endorses everything from hair oil to diesel generators, Shah Rukh Khan in his own words revealed that he failed miserably when it came to reinventing his image. He also referred to how he had turned superhero [Ra.One] to compete with the dynamic industry as he decided to undergo an image makeover. He also wittily added, “One behalf of Super-men, Spider-men and Bat-men of the world, you have to commend them because it really hurts in the crotch, the superhero suit. I’m being honest,” as his statement once again left the audience in splits.

Shah Rukh Khan also thanked his country India for accepting him as an actor and making him the ‘Baadshah of Bollywood’. “Neither power nor poverty, can make your life more magical or less torturous. I’ve learned from the people of my country that the dignity of a life, a human being, a culture, a religion, a country actually resides in its ability for grace and compassion,” as he went on teach the lessons of love to the audience.
