Shah Rukh Khan’s doppelganger on what it’s like being the superstar’s lookalike- “Someone held onto me so tight that my t-shirt tore”

Shah Rukh Khan is not only one of the biggest superstars of India but has charmed his way into the hearts of people outside India as well. Many people abroad associate India with Shah Rukh Khan. The superstar enjoys a massive fan following and some of his stardom has rubbed on Ibrahim Qadri, a man who got famous for his uncanny resemblance with the superstar. Ibrahim Qadri looks eerily similar to Khan and had gone viral after he began to create content using the actor’s dialogues and songs.

Owing to his look and popularity, Ibrahim is often invited as chief guest for events. Recently, Ibrahim opened up about what it is like being the doppelganger of the biggest superstar in the country while talking to Humans Of Bombay. “I was never one who paid too much attention to my looks. But my looks were often brought to my attention by my family & friends - ‘You look like Shahrukh Khan!’ My parents were especially proud of the fact that they gave birth to a kid who had an uncanny resemblance to India’s superstar,” he said.

Ibrahim revealed that after he and his friends watched Raees, he was mobbed and was asked for selfies by fans of Shah Rukh Khan who mistook him for the superstar. He also revealed that people waved and took selfies with him at the cricket stadium when he went to watch KKR(SRK’s team) play against Gujarat Lions.

“I saw how much love people have for SRK, & for the 1st time, I felt like a ‘Badshah’; it was special! But very quickly, I also realized what SRK probably goes through daily; I got swamped & someone held onto me so tight that my t-shirt tore! It got so bad that I had to call the police to be safely taken out of the stadium. And after rescuing me, the cops asked, ‘SRK sir, ek selfie?” he said.

Soon, Ibrahim took the SRK persona seriously and started watching all his movies and copying his mannerisms. “I often get invited to shows & weddings as the ‘special guest’ & I enjoy dancing with crowds to ‘Chaiyya Chaiyya’; to witness people feel special around someone they truly look up to makes me feel that what I do is worth it,” he further said.

“It will be a dream come true if one day I get to meet my idol, SRK in person! I’d be speechless if that happened but when I’d get over being starstruck I’d tell him, ‘For always making me laugh, cry, dance, sing and have fun… I thank you. Dil Se!’,” Ibrahim shared.
